Wan 2.2 Image-to-Video Prompt Guide with Motion Examples

Wan 2.2 image-to-video prompting starts with a source image and a description of the motion you want to add. The source already supplies much of the subject and scene. A useful prompt explains action, camera behavior and what should remain stable.

Identify the actual Wan 2.2 workflow

Wan's official repository distinguishes I2V-A14B, supporting 480P and 720P workflows, from the hybrid TI2V-5B workflow. Their setup and output details differ. Use the model-specific instructions rather than transferring one configuration blindly. Official Wan 2.2 repository.

This is an external-model educational guide. It does not claim that selecting another Wan version or an available Cuta model produces identical Wan 2.2 behavior.

A practical prompt structure

Write the subject action first, then the camera relation and stability constraints. Keep one principal action for an initial attempt. A long list of movements can create competing instructions.

PartExample instruction
ActionThe curtain moves gently toward the window
CameraThe camera remains stationary
StabilityThe window frame and room layout stay fixed
Motion characterSmall continuous movement, no sudden transition

The instruction describes intent. It does not guarantee exact motion or perfect stability.

A restrained environment

The thin curtain moves gently in a light breeze beside the open window. The camera remains stationary. The window frame, table and room layout stay consistent. Small continuous motion, restrained changes in light.

A product turn

The plain ceramic cup turns slowly through a small angle on the table. The camera stays fixed at the same height. Preserve the cup silhouette, handle and surface color. Keep the background quiet and the motion controlled.

A camera reveal

The camera pans slowly to the right from the doorway toward the table. The room structure remains coherent. Reveal the cup on the table and settle on a clear final view. No additional camera orbit or zoom.

These are original starting prompts, not samples claimed to have produced verified clips.

Diagnose one failure at a time

If the cup deforms, reduce the action range and simplify the source. If the camera moves unexpectedly, state the intended fixed or rotating relation clearly and remove conflicting movement terms. If the scene invents objects, simplify the prompt and inspect the source's ambiguous areas.

Keep the source, prompt, model workflow and generation settings together. Change one variable between comparisons. Prompt improvements cannot be judged fairly when the source and several settings change at the same time.

Review the complete clip

Inspect the start, middle and end for identity, geometry, motion and light continuity. A strong first frame does not establish a successful sequence. Reject a clip that changes factual product details when the use requires accuracy.

Use Cuta's image workspace to prepare or explore a source still. For animation, choose the actual available workflow and review its result; do not equate a model name in a prompt with verified model support or a completed motion test.

Separate object movement from a camera reveal

A cup turning on a table and a camera circling a stationary cup are different experiments. Begin with one of them. In the first, watch the handle and base for deformation. In the second, watch background geometry and newly revealed surfaces. A prompt containing both motions makes the cause of a failure harder to identify.

Record the exact Wan workflow, source image, prompt, duration and output settings with each attempt. Compare variants only when those conditions are known. If the cup's rear surface is absent from the source, treat a generated reveal as an interpretation, particularly when the result represents a real product. The prompts in this guide remain starting instructions until a real clip has been generated and inspected.
